COUNCIL MEETING October 1, 2009
The
Waelder City Council met for their regular monthly meeting
on October 6, 2009 at Waelder City Hall. Those present were
Mike Harris, Dora Ramirez, Annie Jackson. (Absent Robert Tovar
and Mayor Roy Tovar). Mayor Pro-Tem Curtis Hadnot did preside.
A
motion was made by Mike Harris to approve the minutes with
a second by Annie Jackson. The vote was unanimous and the
motion was passed.

motion was made by Mike Harris to approve the payment the
bills with a second by Annie Jackson. The vote was unanimous
and the motion was passed.
A
motion was made by Mike Harris to approve the financial reports
with a second by Dora Ramirez. The vote was unanimous and
the motion was passed.
Open
Forum:
Richard Cedillo spoke to the City Council about what a success
the Clean Sweep was on September 19. He wrote an article to
be published in the Gonzales Inquirer thanking all the helpers
that made it a success that day. The people that helped out
were given lunch and there were prizes that were given away.
He is still getting calls from people requesting that items
be picked up, that are still out in front of residents’
homes. He responded by telling them that it will take 3 to
4 weeks to clean it all. The City crew will pick up the lumber
and limbs.
A
motion was made by Mike Harris to increase the peddlers permit
with a second by Annie Jackson. The peddlers permit for (3)
three months is $25 and the yearly permit is $100. The motion
was unanimous and the motion was passed.
The
Council convened to Executive Session at 7:14 p.m. according
to Texas Government 551.074: Personnel Matters: Hiring a Temporary
Police Officer
The
Council reconvened to Open Session at 7:20 p.m.
A motion was made by Mike Harris to hire Robert Hall as Temporary
Part-time Police Officer at a maximum of 32 hours until a
Full-time is hired with a second by Dora Ramirez. The vote
was unanimous and the motion was passed.
A
motion was made by Dora Ramirez to adjourn with a second by
Annie Jackson. The vote was unanimous and the motion was passed.
