SPECIAL CALLED MEETING JUNE 15, 2011

A Special Called Meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Waelder City Hall. Those present were Mike Harris, Valentino Hernandez, Alfred Thompson and Becky Ayala. (Absent: Robert Tovar) Mayor Roy Tovar did preside.

The meeting was called to order and a quorum was established.

The Council convened to Executive Session at 7:02 p.m. according Texas Government Code 551.074: Personnel Matters: (1) Discuss and Consider Resignation of Officer Melvin Fulton-action if any (2) Discuss and Consider Appointment of Chief of Police
(Jim Taylor)-action if any (3) Discuss and Consider  part-time Housekeeper Dolores
Castro work time schedule-action if any (4) Discuss and Consider Hiring Peace Officer
And 4 Reserves-action if any (5) Discuss Direct Deposit

The Council reconvened to open session at 7:44 p.m.
Mike Harris made the 1st motion to accept Officer Melvin Fulton resignation with a second by Alfred Thompson. The motion was unanimously.

Valentino Hernandez made the 1st motion to appoint Jim Taylor as Chief of Police with a second by Alfred Thompson. (3 favor and 1 Oppose: Becky Ayala) Motion carried.

Alfred Thompson made the 1st motion to increase hours from part-time to Full-time for
Dolores Castro with a second by Becky Ayala. (3 to 1-Abstained: Valentino Hernandez)
The motion was carried.

Mike Harris made the 1st motion to hire Colton Armstrong as Full-time Peace Officer with a second Becky Ayala. The motion was unanimously.

Mike Harris made the 1st motion to hire 4 Reserves and keep a minimum 10 reserves with a second by Becky Ayala. The motion was unanimously.

No action: Direct Deposit  will discuss at staff meeting

Alfred Thompson made the 1st motion to adjourn with a second by Valentino Hernandez. The motion was unanimously.
