SPECIAL CALLED MEETING MAY 19, 2011
The Waelder City Council met for a Special Called Meeting on July 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Waelder City Hall. Those present Mike Harris, Robert Tovar. Absent: Becky Ayala) Mayor Roy Tovar did preside.
The meeting was called to order and a quorum was established.
Mayor Roy Tovar canvassed the election returns of the 2011 General Election held on Saturday, May 14, 2011.

A motion was made by Robert Tovar to approve the canvass of the General Election held Saturday, May 14, 2011, with a second Mike Harris. The vote was unanimous and the motion was passed.
Certificates of Election were issued to City Council Members Mike Harris, Valentino Hernandez and Alfred Thompson.
Mayor Roy Tovar issued Statement of Elected of Officers and Oath of Office to the newly elected officials.
A motion was made by Robert Tovar to appoint Mike Harris as Mayor Pro-Tem, with a second Valentino Hernandez. The vote was unanimous and the motion was passed.
A motion was made by Mike Harris to appoint Valentino Hernandez as Chief Financial Officer, with a second by Robert Tovar. The vote was unanimous and the motion was passed.
A motion was made by Robert Tovar to appoint Mike Harris to change the authorized bank signers in place of Annie G. Jackson with a second by Valentino Hernandez.
The Council convened to Executive Session at 7:12 p.m. according to Texas Government Code 551.074: A) Review and Discuss Ground man applications B) Personnel Matters: Paul Quintero, Jr. C) Discuss status on the P.D. House
The Council reconvened to Open Session at 7:35 p.m.
A motion was made by Mike Harris to hire Troy Sullivan as Ground man at $10.50/hr with a second by Robert Tovar. ( 3 in Favor and 1 abstain) Alfred Thompson: Abstained
The motion was carried.
A motion was made by Mike Harris for Angie (HR Personnel) to proceed with Ins. for Paul Quintero, Jr. and set his pay at $10/hr. with a second by Robert Tovar. The motion was carried.
A motion was made by Valentino Hernandez to lease the P.D. House at $350 per month and $250 Deposit/open to the public with every 6 months inspection and to speak to Angie Arriaga with a second by Robert Tovar. The motion was carried.
A motion was made by Mike Harris to adjourn with a second by Valentino Hernandez.
The motion was carried.
